2020 WIKF Canada Online Training Seminar June 27th

On Saturday, June 20th, 2020 WIKF Canada held its first online, country wide training seminar, hosted by Sensei Dan Wallis 7th Dan and Sensei Michael Ham 6th Dan. The seminar was achieved through the use of the Zoom online platform in an attempt to bring our WIKF Canada family closer together as well as to abide by the Covid-19 protocols put in place by our provincial and national governments. 2019 Annual WIKF Quebec Seminar, July 5th and 6th

July 5th and 6th 2019 marked the first Annual WIKF Quebec Seminar.  WIKF students from Montreal, Toronto and Halifax, as well as a guest from the Shintani group of Montreal, met in Beautiful Montreal to learn WIKF techniques and curriculum from Canadian Technical Committee Member and WIKF 6th Dan, Michael Ham. 2018 WIKF Canadian Summer Course at East Coast Wado, June 21 – 24

On June 20 Sensei Ken Corrigan arrived in Nova Scotia to begin the Canada summer course at East Coast Wado. Arriving in the evening, though there were no classes on the first night, we took Sensei to JF’s place for the obligatory sociable and story telling. Luckily for us, due to the long day this lasted, oh, only till about 1230 am. It was important to show Sensei some good old down-east Nova Scotia hospitality. Continue reading

2016 Sensei Jon Wicks Canadian Training

This is the 5th year Ontario has had the pleasure of hosting Sensei Wicks’ Canadian training. As always, our training is focused primarily on the Black Belts, providing them with world class instruction in a small group setting. There were 9 hours of evening group training, 4 hours of semi-private training in the afternoon, and the Dan grading on the last afternoon session. Continue reading

2015 Sensei Jon Wicks Canadian Wado Ryu Seminar

This year’s Sensei Jon Wicks and Sensei Ken Corrigan visit also brought a visit by Sensei Dan Wallis from Campbell River British Columbia and Sensei Rob McCracken along with his student Tom Brent from Belmont (Edmonton) Alberta.  It was good to see representation from the West this year.  Previous years it was just participants on the eastern side of Canada. 2014 Jon Wicks and Kenneth Corrigan Clinic in British Columbia

The Jon Wicks (world chief Instructor) and Kenneth Corrigan (Canadian Chief Instructor) Clinic in Prince George

On October 18th and 19th the Nechako Karate Club hosted a clinic held by Sensei Jon Wicks and Sensei Kenneth Corrigan.  The clinic was well attended with students travelling from Edmonton to attend.

We had an opportunity to have a children’s class in this clinic and it gave the children an opportunity cover basics and partner work with Jon’s approach to training with a touch of fun. Continue reading
